The Story Behind the Financial Savvy Toolkit
While I was in college I used credit cards to fill in when the cash ran out, and this landed me under a mountain of debt. I thought I needed to increase my income to turn my situation around, but even when I started making a little more money I wasn’t seeing the impact I expected. As part of my new job I was managing a multi-million dollar construction project budget, and I was doing it well. Then one day it hit me – if I can do this at work I can do it for myself!
I created a tracking tool similar to what I developed at work, customized for me. For the first time I could see it all in one place – bills, paychecks, credit card balances, interest – and instead of stress and frustration I had a sense of control. I had the information I needed to make better decisions that impacted every aspect of my finances. Tracking my bills and spending helped me pay down my debit, and eventually put me a position to buy my first home. I wanted to help other people who feel stuck in the same cycle of debt and spending, and that’s why I created the Financial Savvy Toolkit.
Take the first step toward financial freedom!
